Water is important in the body. That’s why the lack of fluids triggers a variety of health problems, including heart problems.
According to nutrition experts, Dr.. Luciana B Sutanto, MS, SpGK, water shortages could affect the stability of the heart, especially in people with heart problems.
“The survey shows that about 46 percent of Indonesia chronic mild dehydration. Since our bodies are 70 percent of the water, then this condition gradually make damaged organs,” added dr. Luciana in Water Can Prevent Dehydration event at Grand Sahid Jakarta (28/2).
Study in the American Journal of Epidemiology has also been proven that people who used to drink water more than five cups a day can reduce the risk of death from heart attack by 41 percent.
“Lack of fluid makes the blood more viscous. Incriminating blood can coagulate the heart to pump blood throughout the body. This is what triggered the heart attack,” said dr. Luciana.
